There are a few big decisions you have to make when planning your wedding. And, as much as I would like to say choosing the right wedding photographer is priority number 1, I’d be mistaken in doing so. That’s because choosing the perfect wedding venue actually is the most important thing—it impacts how every other wedding vendor you are going to hire does their job. For me, a venue helps to determine when I will use my film or digital camera as well as where certain shots will be posed. So today, I wanted to share just some of my favorite wedding venues near Portland, in case you are looking for a spot that will give you gorgeous wedding photos.
Oakwood Gardens
If you are dreaming of a garden wedding, look no further than Oakwood Gardens. This family-owned property used to be an alpaca farm but was slowly transformed into lush gardens as the owners’ children grew up. It’s just a 30-minute drive from Portland too—which makes it convenient and stunning.
Sunriver Resort
When you want to have the “best of both worlds,” Sunriver Resort has great indoor and outdoor options for a wedding venue. This all-inclusive resort is located in Bend and is the perfect blend of woodsy and luxury—which also makes it the perfect backdrop for an Oregon wedding.
Brasada Ranch
Also located in Bend, Oregon, Brasada Ranch is one of my favorite barn wedding venues. It is an open space with on-site accommodations for your guests and the ceremony area overlooks the Sisters mountains. Another favorite detail about this wedding venue? The farm-to-table menus they have for catering options.
Gorge Crest Vineyards
If you want to invite Mt. Hood to your wedding, Gorge Crest Vineyards is the perfect venue for you! This gem of the Columbia River Gorge gives you a breathtaking view of Mt. Hood and is surrounded by the natural greens of the Pacific Northwest. This is also one to consider if you are dreaming of having your wedding at a picture-perfect winery.
Everett West
For couples who are wanting to plan a wedding with a more urban aesthetic, Everett West is a wonderful wedding venue with both indoor and outdoor spaces. There is a lighted outdoor ceremony area that boasts hanging garden lights and the spacious indoor area accommodates up to 300 guests—and still has the natural light photographers love! Pair this venue with a stellar planner and design team and you can bet you’ll have a wedding that will wow your guests.
Block House
The Block House is another unique wedding venue I love for more intimate weddings. Right in the heart of Portland, this venue is the perfect mixture of city spaces and nature. It has a lush nursery that makes it feel cozy even though it is in the middle of the city. The real showstopper? The chef-inspired open kitchen that sits at the back of the reception space—if you are a foodie, this is a must-see space!
The Griffin House
Looking for a venue in Hood River with views of the beautiful Columbia Gorge? Look no further, you’ll find everything and more at The Griffin House. This venue is so deserving so being on my list! It’s a beautiful outdoor venue that boast the perfect scene for couples looking for a Pacific Northwest wedding. The Griffin House is perfect for an intimate wedding or a large celebration, it has the scenery, space, and expertise to create the wedding of your dreams.
The Arc Light
Another favorite wedding venue near Portland is just half an hour drive from Portland, this new wedding venue in Oregon City boast of sophistication and elegance. The Arc Light officially opened its doors in 2022 and has already gained attention from many couples and vendors. The completely renovated Arc Light features beautiful wainscotting and unique lighting throughout. The owners designed this space for beauty and function, the spaces include a ballroom, cocktail lounge, grand hall, two fully furnished lounges, and two gorgeous bathrooms. One amazing perk is The Hive restaurant just below this venue! if you’re considering an indoor wedding and want to venture out of the city, be sure to run over to The Arc Light for a tour.
