Creating a space and an environment like this romantic and empowering bridal editorial I’m going to share with you, takes a lot of planning and collaboration, but if I can do then so can you! As a Portland Wedding Photographer, I work knowing there are many talented photographers in this industry. However, I also know that my talents are firstly, unique to my own and secondly, getting published and recognized on a publication like Style Me Pretty gives me more faith that my art goes beyond pretty pictures.
Social Climate Is Important
This particular bridal editorial was centered around a very important movement, Empowering black brides and the black community. Above all, our team wanted to showcase their strength, beautiful and loving nature. Our models all exemplified those qualities and exceeded in showcasing our purpose for this shoot, as a result, this romantic and empowering bridal editorial was picked up and featured on the ever so wonderful SMP.
The wedding industry is going through changes and realization of its lack of diversity. Content being shared now is completely different than what it was months ago and I couldn’t be more excited to see this change. More importantly, creating and showcasing diversity is imperative in today’s culture because the wedding industry consist of so much more than what we use to see in previous magazine spread. Normalizing diversity in the wedding industry brings hope and acceptance, unity and strength.
Empowering and Romantic
Who says a bridal session can’t be both empowering and romantic? As a wedding photographer, I aim to capture emotions and person’s essence through my lens. A bride, in my eyes, is an empowered woman who’s committing their life and love to someone they want to be with. She is both strong, and beautiful, romantic and realistic. I truly enjoy every moment capturing this romantic and empowering bridal editorial. To be in their presence gave me more faith in my work. I am beyond proud of this and so honored that Style Me Pretty have it on their front page!
