A Lovely Day at The HomeStead in Oak Glen
Rachael and Sergio’s wedding was held at The HomeStead in Oak Glen, California. Their wedding was filled with love and genuine friendships. What a beautiful day it was! The sun was shining on this Oak Glen wedding venue like a spotlight. Wispy clouds cast light shadows on the ground and a soft cool breeze brushed through the bride’s hair. Birds were singing and everyone was bustling around putting the last-minute touches to the details for Rachael and Sergio’s wedding.
Honoring the Bride’s Father
As my team and I walked around to photograph detailed shots from table settings to ceremony chairs, I noticed a section at the guest entrance. There were pictures of the bride and her late father. A space was made specifically for him on her wedding day. Towards the front of the ceremonial site sat a chair with his photo and a sign reserving the seat for him. It was such a lovely way for a daughter to remember and honor her father on her wedding day.
Memorable Mother-Daughter Dance
Most noteworthy was the mother-daughter dance. It was such a special moment shared between the two. It was one of those moments where everyone froze in awe, with all eyes on the dance floor. Rachael selected the perfect song to accompany this dance, “The girl you think I am,” by Carrie Underwood, all in remembrance of her late father. There were no dry eyes in the room, including me.
As I photographed Rachael and her mom, I saw that past their shoulders, the groom, Sergio, was in between his friends as they comforted him. Likewise, he too, was seen smiling with teary eyes watching his wife and mother-in-law in a loving embrace. I’m choking up as I write this because I still cannot get over how much you could feel the bride’s father’s presence on this day. It was such a beautiful way to remember and incorporate a loved one into the wedding, and what an honor it was to be able to witness it.
