Kauai Island Wedding

I was over the moon when I was asked to photograph Erlas and John’s Kauai island wedding! It was filled with so many bright, happy and unforgettable moments. I tell you, this couple has a big heart, with devotion to each other, their families and their church. They’re so family oriented and so much fun to be around.

Tropical Kauai Island Wedding

From the bridal party photos on the beach to the island winds that gracefully moved Erlas’s white ball gown wedding dress, the entire Hawaii wedding was a dream. What more can I say? It was filled with the romance and relaxing sensations that you picture for an island wedding.

They were married in a quaint church,  followed by bridal party and couple photos at the beach. We ended the day at a banquet hall at the Sheraton Hotel in Kauai.

Family at the Heart of it All

This was very much an intimate wedding, with probably 80 or 90 people in total. Erlas and John were surrounded by people who really knew them. Friends and family were there that saw them together from the very beginning. You can tell that everyone present loved them and supported them 100%.

Even I felt like I was a part of the family!

My Favorites — the Bright and Stunning Florals

As a photographer, I’d have to say that the florals were AMAZING! The talented Caroline Reusen was extraordinary with her creations. You could tell that the bride loved them, and it brought out what she wanted for the day’s theme.

Hawaii Beach Wedding Photos

The beach bridal session was another favorite  for me. I always encourage moments for the newlyweds to spend time alone and take it all in. We had the opportunity to do so at the beach for about 45 minutes. It was fun letting them find that time and space for each other before they had to jump back into the party.

Island Wedding Inspiration

I often try to pull from the aspects of the couple and their special day. In this case, I used Hawaii as my inspiration. I wanted to capture the island as organically as possible and incorporate that into their photos. Like I mentioned, the island breeze and bright florals made a big impact and you can see all the happiness they elicit in the photos.

And yes, I cried! It was the dance between John and his mom that did the trick. It was so beautiful and you can truly feel the love he has for her. His heart is so big and it was wonderful to witness it.

Thank you Elsa and John for allowing me to be a part of your beautiful island wedding! I hope you’ll continue to feel the joy and romance from your day through these photos.
